This week’s card is the Victorian Fairy Tarot again in honour of my review on this amazing deck being published in Psychic Guidepost Magazine’s summer edition (on page 16…  and while you’re reading some of the great articles in the magazine, also check out my article on the symbolism behind summer fruits and veggies on page 20)   😉         You can check it out for free online here…  or you can purchase a print copy or a free digital copy online here.   Issuu makes it easy to check out some of your favourite magazines on your mobile phone – you can get the Android app here on the Google play store.

Because I’m on holiday this week, I’m posting this week’s card short, sweet and a little early …. just like the faires themselves!

Here we see a little Fae farmer tending to the tender new shoots of growth in his crop, and defending them from a group of hungry skylarks.    The new shoots of tender growth represent all the new-patterns we’ve been working on lately, and those skylarks represent  forces in opposition, or influences that must be used effectively.   Those new influences may not be bad, in fact, they may just be opportunities to turn challenges and changes into advantages.   This is not the week to give up on your tender new shoots, after all!    Something that we work hard on, or even struggle for is worth it in the end.

The fairy farmer stays on guard, valiantly sticking with the task of deterring his skylark friends from snacking too early with the use of a distracting ribbon, and because he sticks to his defenses, the invading  birds move on to other crops.   Don’t give up on yourself this week, don’t give up on your dream, or your tasks.  This is a week to defend and protect what you’ve been working on.   It’s also a time to notice that the most ravenous invaders are most often  OUR THOUGHTS instead of anything real.   Defend your new shoots from whatever thoughts might try to invade and see how EASY it will be this week to do just that and how easy it is to turn something that seems to be an obstacle into an advantage.         This is an awesome week of natural protection and strength on an emotional level and it’s going to actually help you be persistent and courageous.

On a practical level, you may called to take a stand this week and to not flop over like a noodle when it comes to something you believe in or you might even  find yourself presenting your thoughts and opinions to others and sticking to your truth instead of worrying about how to make everyone happy.

And those skylarks?   I can’t forget the wonderful poem by Shelley  — wherein the UNSEEN skylark (much like those imaginary invaders of our thoughts)  can also be the purest expression of nature, the most beautiful song of the heart which can actually INSPIRE us even when we can’t see it clearly.

The pale purple even
Melts around thy flight;
Like a star of Heaven,
In the broad day-light
Thou art unseen, but yet I hear thy shrill delight,

-Percy Bysshe Shelley  from the poem ‘To a Skylark’
